Mid Year Retrospective

It seems only moments ago that we were emerging from the holiday’s revitalized, energized and ready for a new year. What a memorable year it has been so far…

There have been the usual challenges that come with being a modest team running a global operation – design and manufacturing is not always a smooth journey. But our spectacular team have been hard at work, completing beautiful projects and exploring new ones.

We live and breathe design. The beginning of a new design and project journey is exhilarating. Working in collaboration with creatives and visionaries, contributing our small piece of the project puzzle is our passion. From private residences to hotels, remote island resorts and staff amenities in prestigious office buildings, the first half of the year has yielded some sensational installations.

So, we have prepared a short mid-year retrospective – 10 spectacular installations to inspire your next bathroom project.

JONATHAN ADLER RESIDENCE
New York City, United States of America

Jonathan Adler, an American potter and designer, recently refurbished his Greenwich Village home, encapsulating his bold and glamorous style. Eclectic spaces are filled with confounding juxtapositions, making all rooms memorable. The master bathroom is no different. A custom designed apaiser bath, and penny round tiles lend a vintage feel, while unexpected objects such as posters, bar cart and Hermès logo, add quirkiness to the room.

GERTRUDE STREET RESIDENCE
Melbourne, Victoria, Australia

Originally conceived as a 19th century shop front, the Gertrude St residence owned and designed by Kate Challis from Kate Challis Interiors, was also Melbourne’s first feminist bookshop, established in 1970s. Kate set herself upon a journey to transform the time worn space into a functional, expressive and otherworldly family home. Fusing the romantic charm of grand Victorian houses, bold colour palette and one of a kind art pieces, she achieved a fascinating, dream-like like ambience, reminiscent of 19th century escapism.

Despite the moodiness of the palette, there is a remarkable feeling of tranquility and serenity in the bathroom. The play of textures and contrasts creates a dramatic stage for the stunning freestanding bath. With its organic, sculptural form, the apaisermarble® Solar bath (past collections), is the hero of the bathroom.
